To qualify for full-time training in SC – Institute of the Arts’s Video Game Programming Diploma Program:

  • Applicants must provide a high school transcript showing successful completion of a grade 11 or 12 level math course. In the event that the applicant is unable to provide proof of a qualifying grade, they must pass SC – Institute of the Arts’s Math Equivalency Test.
  • Applicants must have graduated from Grade 12 or equivalent (BC high school diploma, BC Adult Graduation Diploma, General Educational Development (GED)), or equivalent completion of a secondary school from another jurisdiction; or have mature student status (age 19 prior to the start of classes) and demonstrated competence at the appropriate level of literacy, numeracy, comprehension and/or written skills to enable success in the program.

To qualify for full-time training in SC – Institute of the Arts’s Video Game Design Diploma Program:

  • Applicants must submit a synopsis of an original game concept (minimum 600-1,000 words). Give consideration to factors such as game type, general story, characters, world, gameplay, tools/weapons, audience, and platform.
  • Applicants must have graduated from Grade 12 or equivalent (BC high school diploma, BC Adult Graduation Diploma, General Educational Development (GED)), or equivalent completion of a secondary school from another jurisdiction; or have mature student status (age 19 prior to the start of classes) and demonstrated competence at the appropriate level of literacy, numeracy, comprehension and/or written skills to enable success in the program.

  • Applicants must submit a portfolio consisting of 5 – 10 samples of original artwork and/or video of an original animated work via video file, personal website, Youtube channel or other online platform.
  • Applicants must have graduated from Grade 12 or equivalent (BC high school diploma, BC Adult Graduation Diploma, General Educational Development (GED)), or equivalent completion of a secondary school from another jurisdiction; or have mature student status (age 19 prior to the start of classes) and demonstrated competence at the appropriate level of literacy, numeracy, comprehension and/or written skills to enable success in the program.

  • Applicants must submit (a) synopsis of an original film or TV show concept (minimum 600 – 1,000 words); and (b) comparison/contrast summary of two other films or television series that are similar in tone or structure, identifying elements in common with the applicant’s concept (600 – 1,000 words).
  • Applicants must have graduated from Grade 12 or equivalent (BC high school diploma, BC Adult Graduation Diploma, General Educational Development (GED)), or equivalent completion of a secondary school from another jurisdiction; or have mature student status (age 19 prior to the start of classes) and demonstrated competence at the appropriate level of literacy, numeracy, comprehension and/or written skills to enable success in the program.

  • Applicants must successfully pass a scheduled audition focused on determining dedication level, work ethic, creativity, and ability to receive and respond to direction.
  • Applicants must have completed SC – Institute of the Arts’s 6-month Acting: Film, TV, & Voice-Over Diploma Program or a comparable program of study so deemed by the senior educational administrator. (Qualifying “comparable programs of study” must consist of a minimum of 6 months of full-time study in the areas of acting, voice, movement or dance. Proof of study includes certificate, diploma or degree.)
